Old Business

Delta Chapter Officers were reminded that all must complete Youth Protection Training (Online).

The Delta Chapter participated in the annual Wreaths Across America project in December 2022.  (See December 2022 Meeting Notes).

New Business

President Elliott reported that Gary Overby’s wife had passed away.  Gary will be flying to South Dakota where his wife will be interred in the family plot.

Don McCaleb is currently recovering from Hip Replacement surgery.

Ed Smith’s condition is not presently known, although he did participate in a Flag Presentation Ceremony in Modesto, CA in late 2022.

President Elliott introduced Pete Kerns who currently resides in Tuolumne County who will be joining the Chapter.  Pete provided a brief background on his family and Patriot.  Pete (and his son and two grandsons) made his initial SAR Application with the help of a genealogist who resides in Mississippi, thus, although he has never lived there, he is a member of a Chapter in Mississippi.

We look forward to Pete joining the Chapter and providing a more in-depth presentation regarding his Patriot ancestors.

President Elliott presented Certificates of Appreciation to members Melvin Howell, Charles Newcomb and Randy Haight for their continued service to the Delta Chapter.

Chapter Officer Roles were identified and members were notified that any interested person can submit their request to staff any of these roles for next year.

President Elliott proposed that several “standing Committees” for the Chapter be instituted and sign-up sheets were passed.

President Elliott sought members’ input concerning a proposal for the Chapter to hold a “Service Award” Dinner in which the Chapter would honor various individuals.  After discussion, it was determined that further planning and discussion were needed, and the date of this Award Dinner is TBD.

President Elliott requested that members make recommendations to the Chapter for individuals and businesses who could be presented with awards from the Chapter, such as the Flag Award for those individuals or businesses that have shown a commitment to the flying of our National Flag.

Treasurer

Treasurer Charles Newcomb reported the Chapter’s bank balance is $8,700, which is the balance after remitting $1,365 for the 2023 annual dues to NSSAR and CASSAR.

The Chapter netted $500, including member Contributions of $260.

Chapter 29 membership as of 1/1/2023 stands at 28.
