March 2025 Meeting

We had our meeting at the Ripon Library at 10:00 AM. We gave out many awards of appreciation and shared some great news. Rev. Scott Elliott gave a presentation on Patrick Henry and the 250th anniversary of his “Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death” speech. Afterwards we met for lunch at the Ripon Roadhouse.

Minutes 3/15/25

  • The Invocation was given by State Chaplain Rev. Scott Elliott

  • The American Flag Salute was lead by Charles Newcomb

  • The SAR Pledge was led by President Andrew McClure

  • The SAR Mission Statement was read

  • Officer Reports

    • Vice President Scott Elliott shared about the rollout of our youth programs to 34 schools in Modesto.

    • Secretary (Not Present) Minutes posted online

    • Treasurer Charles Newcomb shared that our balance is $6,900 in the bank.

    • Registrar (Not Present) Five people in the pipeline

Old Business

  • $75 for new applications submitted in April

Grave Marking

  • Ron reached out to contacts

  • San Diego experience described in SAR magazine

  • Finding out Spanish soldiers who were stationed at California missions during revolution

  • Possible placing a plaque in local park near a mission

  • Grave Marking ceremony example to be posted on our website

Liberty Tree

  • Not moving forward without a chair person

State Meeting

  • Hotel deadline coming up

New Business

Mike Hair

  • Revolutionary war reenactment couple he met at Celtic fair

  • Suggestion to have them present for us

  • Mike also offered to do a presentation from his family and Daniel Boone

  • Frank Wight (Stockton marine corps club) Turing 99 and he fought in Iwa Jima. He will be inducted to our chapter. July 5th he turns 100. Can we expedite his application?
