On April 16th we met at 10:30 a.m. at the Cafe Platano, 14725 Harlan Road, Lathrop, CA 95330. Chapter President Elliott gave a SAR 250 presentation about his patriot ancestor, Patrick Henry.

Members Present:
Scott Elliott (President), Charles Newcomb (Treasurer), Randy Haight (Secretary), Al Baker, David Beeskau, Dug Beeskau, Keith Bickley, Mel Howell, Gary Overby (Chaplain).
President Scott Elliott gaveled the meeting to order.
Chaplain Gary Overby led the opening prayer.
Randy “Doc” Haight led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Treasurer Charles Newcomb led the SAR Pledge.
Officer’s Reports
Secretary Haight read the minutes of February’s meeting.
President Elliott noted that he will attend the State Convention, to be held in Sacramento April 21.
President Elliot advised that in furtherance of SAR’s efforts to promote “America 250” members and chapters can document America 250 Presentations to accumulate award points. President Elliott was the recipient of the Bronze Award for America 250 and will accept the Silver Award at the State meeting.
Treasurer Charles Newcomb reported receiving a check for $105 from the Wreaths Across America which brought our current balance to about $9400.
President Elliott added that he had received an additional $40 from Wreaths Across America to be deposited.
New Business
Gary Overby advised that he presented Citizen Awards to members of the San Joaquin and Modesto Sea Cadets and met with the District Commander at a reception following the presentation at Eagles Hall.
Presentation
President Elliott provided a presentation on Patrick Henry. This presentation focused on his life before, during and after the American Revolution and provided insight into this American Patriot. Accompanying his presentation, President Elliott displayed a portrait and memorabilia concerning Patrick Henry. Incidentally, Patrick Henry is President Elliott’s “Patriot Ancestor” for his initial admission to SAR. Read article here.
